Community Open Day -Saturday 29th August 2015

Community Open Day

Saturday 29th August 2015

Crossroads – Former site of Crossroads Primary

To help us celebrate our achievements and progress since the beginning of 2015, we are hosting a community open day to bring people together and talk about the proposed Community Hub as it moves into a new and exciting chapter.

Since the start of 2015 the Hub have successfully received funding to purchase the land at the former site of the Crossroads Primary School and also to employ new staff, formally register as a charity and rent new office space.  As we move forward we will be working closely with our architects at Anderson, Bell and Christie to ensure our building meets your needs and also looking for fresh new ideas as we raise the £2.5million required for the new building.

To help us do this we need to hear from local people

  • To understand how the building will be used
  • Discuss what products you would like to see stocked in the farm shop
  • Tell us what treats you’d like to see in the cafe
  • Identify community activities you’d like to take part in

Come along to a Community Open Day and give us your feedback;

12:00 – 15:00       Afternoon tea with cake and sandwiches

Opportunity to  discuss our building in detail with our architects, especially useful for those with specific mobility or access requirements. This session will be seated with round table group discussions, food and refreshments will be provided.

15:30 – 19:00      Family BBQ and games

The afternoons events are a great chance to bring the whole family down to the site and catch up with neighbours and friends whilst telling us more about the type of Community Hub you would like to visit with your family. We will be serving up local beef burgers and non- alcoholic cocktails for all to enjoy.

To help with costs we will be asking for a suggested donation of £3 pp for each session. Kids and over 65’s go free. Places need to be booked so that we can accommodate everyone, if you would like to book a place at one of our sessions please contact our Development Coordinator, katey@crossroadshub.co.uk, call/text us on 07444393078 or book online using event brite

We want your views and ideas!

Crossroads Community Hub was founded in 2011 to
provide facilities and services that will regenerate the area around the former Crossroads Primary School to enhance the lives of the people who live there and in the wider area. Our vision is to create a dynamic hub of activity where community support, social enterprise businesses and training can be delivered and food activities can flourish.
With Lottery Funding, we have begun working on
proposals for a community–led farm shop and a café as
an income generator for the local community which will
build confi dence in the local rural economy. We hope
to create a facility that will inspire folks and improve
health, well-being, employability, aspiration and
community cohesion.
Our proposals include Community facilities with space
for training, meetings, a kitchen for cooking classes, art
and drama, children’s activities and outdoor play etc.
These proposals have come from initial consultation
with local people and we now want views on what
should happen at Crossroads from the widest possible
The architects will be there on the 6th when you can
see their plans, hear about our proposals and let us
know what you think should happen………
For more information contact Wallace on 07801 922604

Please come along and see the Options that have been prepared, and talk to the Consultants about this exciting Project.

Thanks to all who attended The Family Burns Supper on 25th January at Craigie Hall. A great night was had by all.

Big Thanks to The Cookschool for their cooking coaching and advice on presentation skills to mums and kids. We look forward to further collaboration in the future.

Many thanks to everyone who made a valued and enthusiastic contribution to making the night a success and giving the kids a chance to experience and develop skills in event management, performance and hospitality.
