Crossroads Community Hub Ltd is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.
Its vision is to regenerate the local community through the ownership and development of a new community asset on the now derelict site of the former primary school. This new-build project will provide a unique combination of a community – led farm shop, community cafe, and a multi-use social/educational centre, the first in Scotland. This will become the hub of the community and aims to enable people in East Ayrshire and the wider community to access produce from farmers and rural crafts people and to encourage a deeper understanding of local food production and rural life for the long-term benefit of the community. It will provide a natural networking opportunity as well as having an educational focus on food and health and lifelong learning. Produce will be sourced from identified suppliers predominantly from within Ayrshire.
The board are working hard to secure capital & revenue funding for the project at the moment and in the meantime we have an outreach service established with a new office at 15 West Main Street in Darvel, which will be a pre-curser to the activities which will be available at Crossroads when it opens.
Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in supporting the aims of Crossroads Community Hub Ltd at the cost of £1.
